Marine Fixed Firefighting Systems: Service, Testing, and Certification

Ensuring the Integrity of Your Vessel’s Primary Defense.

Fixed firefighting systems are the critical backbone of a vessel’s safety infrastructure. Whether protecting the engine room, cargo holds, or sensitive electronics, these systems must function instantaneously during an emergency.

At Lotek, we provide specialized inspection, maintenance, and analysis for the full spectrum of marine fixed fire suppression and detection systems. Our service protocols are strictly aligned with IMO MSC guidelines, SOLAS regulations, and Class requirements, ensuring your vessel remains safe and compliant.

Gaseous and Clean Agent Suppression

Engine rooms, electrical spaces, and control rooms require suppression agents that extinguish fires without damaging critical equipment. We provide full-service support – from level checks to hydro-testing and refills for:

  • CO2 Systems (High & Low Pressure): The industry standard for engine room protection. We conduct liquid level checks, piping blow-throughs, and flexible hose renewal.
  • Clean Agent Systems: Inspection of chemical suppression systems including FM 200FS 49, and Novec 1230. Essential for protecting sensitive electronics with zero residue.
  • Inergen & Argonite Systems: Maintenance of inert gas systems that lower oxygen levels to suppress fire while remaining safe for the environment.
  • Aerosol Systems: Testing and maintenance of condensed aerosol technology used in technical spaces and machinery compartments.

Foam, Powder, and Water-Based Systems

For deck protection, tankers, and accommodation areas, we ensure your hydration and chemical-based systems are fully operational.

  • Foam Systems & Analysis: Comprehensive service for both High & Low Expansion foam systems.
    • Note: We perform mandatory Foam Analysis in certified laboratories to verify the chemical stability and expansion properties of your concentrate.
  • Water Mist & Hi-Fog Systems: specialized servicing for high-pressure mist systems, including pump testing and nozzle inspection.
  • Sprinkler Systems: Routine testing of automatic sprinkler systems in accommodation and service spaces.
  • Dry Powder Systems & Analysis: Critical for Gas Carriers and chemical tankers. We inspect the powder tanks and perform Dry Powder Analysis to ensure the agent has not caked and remains free-flowing.

Detection and Specialized Alarms

A suppression system is only as effective as the detection system that triggers it. We calibrate and test the “eyes and ears” of your fire safety network.

  • Smoke & Fire Detection/Alarm Systems: Functional testing of optical smoke, heat, and flame detectors, ensuring communication with the main fire panel.
  • Cargo Hold Smoke Detection Systems: Verification of sample extraction smoke detection systems to ensure rapid identification of fires in loaded holds.

Galley Safety

  • Deep Fat Fryer Extinguisher Systems: Inspection of wet chemical systems (specifically designed for hot oil fires/Class F) to meet ISO 15371 standards.

Our Service Scope

We do not just “check the box.” Our marine technicians perform a thorough maintenance regimen to extend the life of your equipment and prevent false discharges.

  • Annual & 5/10/20-Year Inspections: Fully compliant with IMO MSC.1/Circ.1432.
  • Blow-Through Testing: Verifying piping integrity and freedom from blockage.
  • Non-Destructive Level Checks: Using ultrasonic technology to verify cylinder contents without dismantling.
  • Hydrostatic Testing: 10-year pressure testing of cylinders.

Maintain System Readiness

A failure in a fixed system can lead to catastrophic loss. Ensure your systems are serviced by certified marine professionals.
